Learning About the Moon Phases

The students are learning that the changing appearance of the moon depends on its position relative to the position of the Sun and Earth.  Ask your child to tell you the order of the moon phases!

Floating Fruit Lab


Today we practiced using the scientific method with the floating fruit lab.  Many students were surprised which fruits floated and which ones did not.  Ask your child why the apple, orange, grapefruit, banana, pear, and tomato floated and why the lime and seedless grape did not.

As a class we worked with new peers to try and build the tallest free standing structure that could hold one marshmallow on top only using 20 spaghetti pieces, 1 yard of tap, and 1 yard of yarn.
